Stray:
This is the S10 respirator;
it has reinforced lenses especially put in for airsoft (the normal ones will just shatter). It’s a great piece of kit for the SWAT/police look and it keeps that stinging smoke out.
Pro's
Good visibility.
The more you breath the more unsteamed the lenses become.
Acts as a full-face mask.
Looks flash as fuck (well I thought so ) Certainly got a lot of comments (most of them darth vader jokes).
Survive those nasty gas attacks.
Cons
Water appears from your sweat in the bottom, by the end of the day it gets annoying, did last till the last half hour with it on though.
Get outta breath faster (RAF dude was commenting about having to run a mile in them and it been knackering)
The first time I used this mask I was expecting to have to take it off straight away because it was fogging up or that I wouldn’t be able to see. (To the point that I took a pair glasses into the field with me), But I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could see fine and that the more I was breathing the more they unfogged. They act as full face masks too, now I know a lot of people will say “full face masks are for pussys” but you’ll also find (with a few exception) they’re the once stacked up at door way or at the bottom of a stairwell not wanting to go up in case they get shot. I went with this mask originally for the look, but it completely removed that fear of been shot in the face, which is always good for CQB (Close quarter battle). Also if you replace the lenses properly you can stand in a tent while people throw in smokes (we threw Mk5s at them for waking us up.)
The cons are that after using it all day, I found there was condensation around the mouthpart that made it seem like I was drooling a little, Roth was the only one to point that out though and its easily sorted with a quick wipe down. The other con is the filter system means that you get out of breath really quickly, however it didn’t come up too much for me since most airsofters don’t run about that much and when I was running I found I could deal with it fine (I do a lot of running about though, maybe an issue for your couch-potato-softer).
All in all I’d defiantly recommend this piece of kit to anyone, especially as in the event of a fire in your home it should give you protection against the deadly smoke which normally kills you way before the fire does, an ounce of prevention…(I’m getting some for my parents).
